Privacy Policy

1. Overview

WorldFolder is a Minecraft server hosting service currently in early access. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Information We Collect

We deliberately collect as little as possible. When you use the pricing calculator or reserve early access, we collect:

Email address — Required to reserve early access and, if chosen, a Founder Year. Collected with your consent and used only to contact you about the service.
Server build configuration — Your selected player count, edition, modpack, plugins, map, uptime and the resulting price estimate. This lets us prepare your world and tailor launch communications.
Preferences — Which aspects matter most to you (e.g. price, speed, mods), your budget range, and your chosen founder perk.
Founder Year intent — Whether you indicated interest in a paid 12-month plan. This is a preference signal, not a binding order.
Google account data (optional) — If you sign up with "Sign in with Google", we receive your email address and basic profile information (name, avatar) from Google. The ID token is verified by our servers. This feature is only active when enabled.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not require or store passwords or account credentials.
We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics that track individual users.
We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for advertising.

4. Legal Basis (GDPR)

Processing of your email, build and preferences is based on your consent (Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR), which you give by submitting the reservation form and which you may withdraw at any time with effect for the future. Operational data such as connection logs is processed based on our legitimate interest in providing a secure and reliable service (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR).

5. Local Storage

While the service is in prototype mode, your reservation may be stored in your browser's local storage (wf:leads) when no server endpoint is connected. Your calculator configuration is also kept locally to restore your selections. This data stays on your device unless a lead endpoint is connected.

6. Third-Party Services and Hosting

Hosting and Cloudflare: The website is hosted and delivered through Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages and, once live, Cloudflare Workers for the backend). Cloudflare acts as our Data Processor (Auftragsverarbeiter) under a Data Processing Agreement (AVV) pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR and processes connection metadata (IP address, timestamps) for delivery and security.

Modrinth: The calculator searches the Modrinth catalog (modpacks, plugins) directly from your browser. Search terms are sent to Modrinth's public API; we do not receive these requests, and no personal data is attached to them.

Google (optional): If "Sign in with Google" is enabled, Google processes your sign-in and provides the verified identity token to us. Google's privacy policy applies to that step. We do not use Google for tracking or analytics on this site.

Fonts: All fonts are served from our own hosting. No data is transmitted to third-party font providers.

7. Children's Privacy

Minecraft is played by children, and we take that seriously. The reservation form asks for an email address; if you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to submit it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent, and we comply with the Google sign-in age requirements when that option is enabled.

8. Data Retention

Reservation data is kept for as long as needed to operate the early access program and to send launch communications. You may ask us to delete your data at any time using the contact details below.

9. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing (Art. 21). You also have the right to withdraw consent at any time and to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority — for us, the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA).

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
